Vintage Rugby Carnival - Hawaii 2012
The 17th season of ACT Veterans Rugby is now completed, with the final game day at the Tathra Crabs Festival on Saturday 22 October. The highlights of the year were the Fools Day Festival, the Brumbies curtain raiser match against the Navy Old Salts and matches against the RAAF Mirages, Army Old Boys, RMC cadets and Parliamentary XV. The SouthCare Cup match against the Jindabyne SoreBoars on 13 August was a great success, with over $2000 raised for the Snowy Hydro SouthCare rescue helicopter service.
Training is every Wednesday evening starting at 6pm and will continue over summer, with a short break at Christmas/New Year. The training venue is Kapyong Oval, which is across the road from Portsea Oval at RMC Duntroon.
A training programme is available for those who haven't been able to make it yet on Wednesdays to see what your team mates get up to before having a beer or two. There are also some photos of a training session last year on the photos page. Thanks to Jayson Hinder for these photos.
The match schedule for 2012 is currently being prepared and will be posted on the website once it has been finalised. The highlight for next year will be the Vintage Rugby Carnival in Hawaii at the end of September.
You can find us on Facebook. The ACT Veterans Rugby page has information on upcoming events, photo albums and a discussion forum for all things rugby. If you have a Facebook account, click on the link above and put in a request to join the group.
Club bumper stickers are still available. If you would like to get one or two, please see Craig Wilkes at training or on match days
