Fathers and Related Offspring Day - Sunday 5 September 2010

Weren't they magnificent? The Wallabies and the Vets both celebrated victories on Sunday. The Wallabies over the 'Boks and the Vets over the conditions.

It was a clear, cold and dry (as in no rain) but still wet underfoot Sunday afternoon at Portsea Oval when the Vets celebrated Father's Day in our traditional way of playing a game with our kids. Changes to the usual playing conditions were agreed upon and Jack was in charge.

The numbers were a bit light on but those that took to the paddock had a great time and by the end of it the boys were running straight and hard, the girls were tackling each other (and anything else that moved) and everyone agreed that it was a game for the ages.  Todd's little boy Angus was selected as player of the match due to his uncompromising play in the front row, his great work at the lineout and his understanding that the best way to the line was a straight line.

Unfortunately no game day pictorial evidence exists to confirm the prowess of the Vets but rest assured we have not lost our ability to throw wild passes, miss tackles and generally have a great time. We retired to Olims for our usual rehydration session and to solve the world's problems.

Later in the evening Pudge was on hand at Canberra Stadium to present the George Gregan Cup to the winner of the u/18's Grand Final.  Vikings held out to win an enthralling encounter with Wests and as victors were presented with the GGC and $1,000.00 in prize money.  Wests were presented with $500.
Our thanks to Dataflex for continuing to support the GGC and allowing us to support the development of junior rugby in this way.

Cheers

Pudge
